Back From Lorne

Hot damn, that was an awesome 3 days. The reason I haven’t updated this in a while was because all the study abroad/exchange students went on a trip to the nearby city of Lorne, just southwest of Geelong. The town was small, cozy, and very relaxing.

We left Monday afternoon and arrived in the evening, where we proceeded to eat and drink the night away. Which is what we did…a lot. I don’t have many photos, but everyone else does. I’ll post them once I get them. Tuesday I learned about Australian Football (or Footy). This game takes elements from pretty much every major sport and mashes it all into one event. It’s a wee bit hard to explain, but it involves running (a lot), tackling (without padding), a football (duh), kicking (upwards of 200 feet), passing, dribbling, jumping, etc etc. I’ll be going to a game probably within a month, since the Geelong Cats are currently #1 in the league (huzzah!).

After footy I made my way to the beach and learned how to surf. And let me tells ya, it’s pretty damn fun. Having never surfed in my life I figured I’d be a miserable wreck, but I was actually keeping my balance the majority of the time. I’ll get some photos of that too, especially the one of me in a wet suit and a neon pink shirt. Hott.

Today we went to the Twelve Apostles, which I DO have photos of:

Those rocks sticking out are the Apostles. Yeah.

So now I’m back in my Vietnamese prison cell. Tomorrow I register for classes. With luck, I’ll only have classes 3 days a week. Here’s hoping.
