If there’s one thing you can’t deny it’s Australia’s awesome sense of humor. Often times I’ll see things on TV that would cause an uproar in the States. The whole attitude on offending people here just doesn’t exist since everyone knows not to take these things seriously. You’ll get TV programs that say “shit” and “fuck” during primetime airing on local channels. Hell, “shit” and “fuck” can’t even be said on cable TV in the States until after midnight.
Here are a few TV commercials that shows their humor:
Solo
Lemon flavored soft drink. Haha, man cans…
Snickers
This one may be playing in the states, I’m not sure.
Pure Blonde
Aussie beer. Not that great, I prefer to drink…
Carlton Draught
One of the most epic ads ever made. I’ll never get sick of watching it.

This commercial does amazing things. Not only will the song get stuck in your head for 6 1/2 weeks, but whenever it comes on the TV EVERY PERSON in the room sings along. It’s impossible not to.
Gimme gimme gimme that thing…

After being here for a week, I’ve seen some unusual things here that I’d like to share with the rest of the class:
-Trying to understand a drunken Australian accent is fucking impossible.
-Everything here is expensive. $2.50 for a Coke? Nuts to that.
-There are some crazy looking birds. And their bird calls are equally strange. I swear one sounded like the Metal Gear Solid codec beep…
-Kangaroos can’t walk backwards…and are quite tasty
-There are no squirrels on campus…just bunnies…HUNDREDS of bunnies…
-The lingo is great. ‘Bloke’, ‘Bloody’, ‘G’day’, ‘Mate’, and ‘Cheers’ are some of the most common ones.
-There is no “garbage”, just “rubbish”.
That’s all I can think of now…more later.

American currency is pretty dull if you think about it. All the bills are green and equal sized, while the coins are generally useless.
Here’s a look at Aussie bills and coins:

From top to bottom: $5, $10, $20, $50. There’s also $100, but I don’t have one. The bills get longer as the amount increases.

From left to right: 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2. The $1 and $2 are pretty useful.
Quite colorful. Almost looks like Monopoly money.
